International No-Dig 2022, Helsinki
The 38th International No-Dig conference was held in Helsinki between 3rd and 5th October. The aim of the conference and associated exhibition was to highlight how trenchless technologies can provide economic and low impact environmental solutions for the installation and refurbishment of underground services. Stephan Kneck of Borealis and Andrew Wedgner of Lyondellbasell prepared and presented a technical paper “The use of PE100+ materials in Trenchless Technology Applications” to highlight how high quality PE100 pipes and liners can be installed using several different trenchless technologies. The paper and presentation also gave an introduction to the EN ISO 11295 family of standards that have been developed over the last 12 years. The family of standards, which are aimed at non-specialist organisations and technical staff, provide a classification system and information on the design and installation of plastics piping systems used for trenchless renovation and replacement of underground services. In addition to presenting the paper Stephan and Andrew also manned the PE100+ Association’s stand at the exhibition, through which they provided more information on the association’s activities to attendees.
