PE100+ Association publishes international round robin test results of Strain Hardening Test
INTRODUCTION
The strain hardening modulus, as defined by ISO 18488, serves as an indirect measure of the resistance to slow crack growth in polyethylene materials.
This test is a prerequisite for PE100+ RC listing. The PE100+ Association conducted a round robin test in accordance with ISO 18488:2015, with administrative support from KIWA. The enclosed report provides comprehensive details of the round robin test, including results and interpretations.
DISCLAIMER
This report on the ISO 18488 Strain Hardening Test round robin reflects the outcomes of tests conducted by various laboratories worldwide, some of which may lack extensive experience in specimen preparation, execution of tensile tests at elevated temperatures, and subsequent data analysis.
The conclusions and insights derived from this report have been utilized by ISO TC 138 / SC 5 / WG 20 to revise and enhance the test methodology, encompassing sample preparation, testing procedures, and data processing. The improved second version of ISO 18488 is presently undergoing an FDIS vote.
