PE100+ Association holds Advisory Committee Meeting in Vienna
Since its founding in 1999, the PE100+ Association looks back on a long tradition of annual Advisory Committee meetings, which bring together global Pipe industry experts to give input to the activities of the Association and help steer its future direction. The 2023 Advisory Committee meeting on June 7th was held in Vienna coincidentally exactly 20 years after the last Vienna meeting in 2003.
Of the 17 participants from Europe and N. America attending in person, 3 even attended both the 2003 and 2023 meetings which is a great testimony to the consistency of expertise in our industry. Several more people attended virtually from all over the world, including Hong Kong. The meeting turned out to be a lively and open discussion around the future challenges for the association in the fields of circular economy, hydrogen readiness, reducing environmental footprint, climate change resilience of plastic pipe systems, PE100-RC in CEN & ISO standards, technical guidance for end users and pioneering global collaboration among pipe associations.
Special thank you for the very interesting and inspiring presentations from KIWA, TEPPFA, PPI, Downley Consultants and TGM. The meeting also covered the activities and achievements of the association over the last 12 months, such as:
- The publication of a report on the permeation Hydrogen in different types of PE pipe systems, which has shown that PE pipes can safely be used to transport hydrogen;
- Extension of the associations quality materials list to now cover both PE100 and PE100-RC materials;
- The undertaking of a ‘round robin’ testing programme at a large number of laboratories to help standardize the undertaking of relatively new accelerated PE100-RC testing methods; and
- Promotional activities including exhibiting at the Expo Apa water event in Tibiu , Romania and presenting at the ISTT International No-Dig event in Helsinki, Finland and KL, Malaysia.
