In recent years, considerable progress has been made in the quality of PE pipe materials and products. PE pipes have been widely used in the water and gas distribution market sectors. Also thanks to the excellent performance and chemical resistance of these high quality PE pipes they have been used in other markets, such as the transport of municipal neutral water and acidic water, wastewater treatment pipelines, etc. This paper describes the characteristics and requirements of polyethylene pipes used in industrial applications, the production technology and the control points for non-standard diameter polyethylene pipe production. Also presented are several projects in this sector including the Guizhou Wengfu Group 41km of Dn316mm lining pipes for acidic waste water; Taiyuan Iron and Steel Group recycled water pipeline; Beijing Yizhuang Economic Development Zone large-diameter neutral water pipeline project, JingdongFang high-quality recycled water project and the Jiuxian Bridge sewage treatment plant mains for recycling of neutral water projects. In addition to describing the requirements and characteristics of these projects the importance of quality control of PE pipes in the industrial sector is discussed.
