The determination method of metal elements for polyethylene pipes was reported in this paper, the difference in metal elements content between raw materials and recycled materials was analyzed. The results showed that raw and recycled materials in polyethylene pipes were effectively distinguished via metal element determination method, especially for iron and calcium elements.
Recycled materials are commonly used in the production of polyethylene pipes due to the lack of raw materials. However, the production of plastic pipes from recycled materials would cause huge safety risks, since the great difference between raw and recycled materials in physical performances. The determination method of metal elements for polyethylene pipes was reported in this paper and, the difference in metal elements content between raw materials and recycled materials was analyzed. The results showed that raw and recycled materials in polyethylene pipes were effectively distinguished via metal element determination method, especially for iron and calcium elements. In addition, the mechanical, antioxidant and rheological properties of polyethylene pipes with different ratio of raw/recycled materials were characterized, the mechanical properties of the pipe decreased with the increase of recycled material
