PE-Xa pipes used in the hot water supply are required for high mechanical strength and high creep resistance at high temperature. Because of the higher cross-link degree of PE-Xa pipes as compared with other crosslinked pipes methods , these pipes which are made by peroxide crosslinking have better performance in the hot water application. It has long been recognized that stabilization of such highly cross-linked polymers by commercial antioxidants (AO) faces many challenges including the possible interference of the AOs with the crosslinking step. In this paper, the PE-Xa pipes which mixed with several stabilizers were tested to evaluate the effect on cross-link degree and the oxygen induction time, as a result, it was found that the combination of AOs for PE-Xa pipes plays an important role to prolong the OIT without inhibiting the cross-linking. Another issue is to check the possibilities on how to measure the gel content more quickly and if there is a correlation with gel content. In this paper, we check this issue and try to prepare some conclusions.
