Plastic Pipes Conference Association # 2012 Barcelona

Alireza Sahaf Amin, Dr.Reza Bagheri

A minerally reinforced polypropylene (PP-MD) ,Because of its high specific weight and its special molecular structure, is able to absorb airborne noise as well as structure borne noise created in soil & waste piping system. The Main mechanism of damping the sound in this piping structure is increasing the density of the pipe structure by using the High filled PP compound. In high filled polypropylene normally the Modules of Elasticity is increased but some other mechanical property like toughness and Impact Strength is decreased. As Impact strength is a critical property of Soil & Waste system especially in low temperature condition which is available in IRAN Climate we decided to increase this property by using the Nano filler to enhance this mechanical property. The effect of filler content on mechanical properties, crystallization process, morphology and sound attenuation of the composites were studied by Tensile and Impact Test, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and B&K Impedance Tube.

Author(s) : Dr. Michael Pluimer, Sara Stone

The Notched Constant Ligament Stress test (NCLS test, ASTM F2136)[1] is a test method that measures the slow crack growth in High Density Polyethylene. The NCLS test requires a notch on all test specimens to act as a stress concentration at that point so crack propagation can be easily predicted and studied. In...

Author(s) : Dr. Tania Weyland, Dr. Tobias Eltze, Dr. Rolf Wittlinger, Marie-Laure Bertet, Gregor Huber

A significant amount of water is lost in transit from the water treatment plant to the consumer. A major cause of water leakages is the deterioration of assets including the use of disinfectants. Using chlorine-based disinfectants is known to be extremely effective in eliminating waterborne pathogens, but they also...

2023 Lake Buena Vista : PROGRESS IN INLINE PLASTIC PIPE MEASUREMENT – NEW APPLICATION FIELDS DUE TO ADVANCED RADAR TECHNOLOGY

Author(s) : Dr. Jan Hendrik Beckmann

For several decades now plastic pipes have been measured in-line [1]. However, currently used technologies also challenge the user in many ways, either by elaborate conversion work on the system for dimensional changes or by frequent calibration procedures [2] or in some cases the use of water as coupling medium [3]....

2021 Amsterdam : INVESTIGATION OF THE QUALITY CHARACTERISTICS OF POLYAMIDE 12 PIPE WELDS

Author(s) : M. Eckes & Dr. B. Baudrit, Dr. M. Troughton & D. Wylie, H. van Laak & J. Fritz

Unplasticized polyamide 12 (PA-U12) is increasingly being used in pipe applications, especially in the gas sector. However, the material behavior in the usual quality tests for pipe welds has not yet been thoroughly investigated. For this reason, two research institutes, worked in cooperation with a manufacturer of...
