Flexible plastic solution for district heating pipes

In today’s world a lot of energy is wasted. More than 50 % of the energy is lost on its way to the customer. The fundamental idea of modern district heating is to recycle heat that otherwise would be lost and to use renewable sources to heat homes. In other words: a market place for green heat that reduces consumption of natural gas and fuel oil. Flexible plastic pipes offer a corrosion free alternative to metal pipes while significantly increasing the lifetime from 30 to 50 years. Moreover, the high flexibility of the plastic pipes provides the possibility to wind and install an up to one kilometer long PU preinsolated pipe, which results in a substantial decrease of the installation costs.

As an innovator and leader in the production of resins used in piping systems, LyondellBasell and its predecessor companies have been working hand-in-hand with our customers in the pipe industry for more than 50 years. Steadily replacing traditional materials such as cast iron, steel, clay and concrete; plastic pipes have proven to be a strong, durable and cost-effective solution around the world.
