Plastic Pipes Conference Association # 2018 Las-Vegas

Bülent Kuzkaya

Spiral wound pipes are becoming more and more important in larger diameter HDPE pipe production technology. The spiral wound structured wall pipes with profiles are already well known and used for several low or non-pressure pipe applications. This paper shows that spiral wound pressure pipes can fulfill the requirements as set in ISO 4427 for the conveyance of water for human consumption. Through a project case study, this paper demonstrates that the performances of the spiral wound pressure pipes are at least on par with those of the axial extruded large diameter HDPE pipes. Details are given on the production technology, applications and standards.
