PE Pipes for the third Millenium

Sino French Seminar in Chongqong, May 29-30th 2013

In the spirit of promoting consistent quality at the highest level in the use of PE pipe systems while refraining from positioning them aggressively versus other plastic pipes, the PE100+ Association has been active in an important industry event in China in May 2013.

GPPA conference in ME, May 28-29th 2013

From May 28-29th, the Gulf Plastics Pipe Academy (GPPA) held their annual Spring Conference in Doha, Qatar, focusing on the 'Life Cycle, Repair and Maintenance of Plastic Pipe Systems' and 'The Role of Plastic Pipes in the Sustainability and Conservation of Resources'.

Exxova response

In early 2011 the well reputed UK Water Industry Research Limited (UKWIR) published a comprehensive report about the integrity of water supply systems made of PE in the United Kingdom.

The report was promoted to the interested public under the somewhat misleading heading "Did you know that up to 20% of PE electro fusion joints may well fail before they reach their design life time, according to failure data analysis?". This statement caused quite some concern and uncertainty with end users.

Consequently the PE100+ Association approached Exova (UK) who carried out the research work the report is based on and received a clarifying statement indicating that PE pipes have the lowest failure rate amongst all the different materials used in the construction of water mains
