This paper presents results of test carried out on rainwater products that have been exposed to natural weathering for 25 years in Northern Europe. Samples of down pipe and gutter were removed from both north and south facing aspects of a property during renovation and subjected to a range of mechanical and physical tests that rainwater products must pass when new. These include tensile strength and elongation at failure, Vicat softening temperature, reversion, and impact strength. The results indicate that, even after 25 years of service, the PVC rainwater products still pass most of the tests required both at the time of manufacture and by current European Standards. Key words : Durability, rainwater, gutter, downpipe

Heavy and constant trucked container traffic combined with an accelerated ground settlement in a coastal reclaimed land caused a DN1000mm cement-lined mild steel water pipeline that crossed under it to sink by more than 6m from its original buried depth. This then caused the internal & external cement lining to...

This paper demonstrates the excellent recyclability of rigid PVC and the strong possibilities of incorporating recyclate into foamed PVC pipes. Calculations show that it is the availability of rigid PVC recyclate, partly due to the long service lives of PVC pipes, which is the limiting factor in further extending the...

The paper examines the production of PVC and its conversion into PVC-U pipes. Advances in chemistry, process engineering and the design of extrusion equipment have led to significant improvements in quality and consistency of both PVC polymers and pipes made from them. At the same time, pipe productivity has risen...
