In this paper, an acceleration test has been done to evaluate of the resistance of polyethylene pipes to the chlorinated water with varying the concentration of chlorine and test temperature. The surface defects like a void due to the delamination of film about 10-micron meter thickness were observed after the acceleration tests. We could also obtain the formulation of the initiation rate of surface void as a function of the concentration of chlorine and test temperature. It was found that the void initiation life of polyethylene pipes used under the service condition was at least more than over 529 year, as a basis of the equation.
