European demand in flexible pre-insulated plastic pipes is limited to max 70C@10bar or max 95C@6 bar applications and can be fulfilled by mono layer cross-linked polyethylene carrier pipe with up to 110mm in diameter. Infrastructure of former USSR mega district heating networks require combined higher temperatures, pressures and throughputs. Implementation of reinforced concept allowed to provide a single solution for 95C@10 bar applications and to cover heat exchanger–house (second pipe network loop) demand. Modern polymer materials, pipe multi-layer and reinforced structure concepts, together with sophisticated process control tools and innovative equipment solutions allow to manufacture plastic pipe systems for 115C@10 bar and 135C@10 bar applications.

Pre-insulated thermoplastic reinforced pipes were developed for East European heating networks with elevated operating temperatures and pressures. In contrast to monolayer plastic pipes, high modulus aramid mesh reinforcement used in thermoplastic reinforced pipes allows significantly to increase both operating...
