Bonn

This paper relates experience gained using Thermopipe. a Thin Walled Polyester Reinforced Polyethylene (PRP) pipe for the rehabilitation of water mains. Some 46km have now been installed world wide, with the bulk of the work carried out in the UK, where 12 water companies have used the system. The Paper also desci-ibes the development of special fittings to connect the lined pipes to other mains and service pipe work : patented service connections having been developed for installation in water mains in both live pressure and dead applications. Experiences are presented of the use of thin walled Polyester Reinforced Polyethylene in a range of host pipe materials (Including Cast Iron & Asbestos) and details of installation rates and cost benefits are given.
