PVC remains the dominant polymer resin for pipe production throughput Europe and will remain so over the foreseeable future. Environmental pressure and development of newer grades of competitive materials have contributed to restraining growth for PVC, nevertheless growth is seen for multilayer and corrugated pipes. PE 100 is continuing to grow at the expense of PE 80 but little genuine enthusiasm has been found for PE 125. This paper reviews the European market for all major resin systems with data by application also discussed. It also looks at the restructuring of the market in terms of supplier and those of the pipe producers.
