Polybutylene Pipes - Their Performance and World-Wide Applications

Materials and Their Characteristics

Plastic Pipes Conference Association # 1985 York

Ball

Polybutylene's basic physical properties are briefly reviewed with reference to its unique balance within the range of polymers used in the production of plastic pipes. Pipe standards are discussed and examples given of pipe characteristics required to meet the recently introduced German DIN norm. Polybutylene's pipe features and benefits are compared against those produced from metals and other polymers. A detailed description af polybutylene's current international status in diverse piping applicational fields are described, covering hot water plumbing, districtlgeothermal distribution, industrial slurry, underfloor heating systems, ground coupled heat pumps and fire protection sprinkler systems.
