The use of plastic pipes has to date been limited to operating pressures of max 10 bar / 145 psi for gas supply and 16 bar / 230 psi (25bar / 360 psi) for water supply. Polyamide – the new high-performance material for gas pipes - and multi layer pipes with integrated reinforcement allows operating pressures to be increased significantly. A very important aspect of a plastic pipe system is a jointing technique that provides reliable and reproducible results even in the face of maximum safety requirements and will at the same time be cost efficient. While the jointing technique of polyamide solid wall pipes can take place in line with existing processing instructions, multi layer pipe design, RTP (Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipes), require a specific processing technique.

New types of saddle fittings enable convenient and economic ways of installing branches or vents on PE pipes. In conjunction with a gate valve, branches can even be installed without disrupting service, by "hot tapping" the main pipe. In addition, pipes with localized damage such as excessively deep scratches or...

A New Generation of Electrofusion : A technical comparison between the new wedge coupler and the traditional cylindrical coupler for PE pipes d1000 (40”) and above. FRIATEC has developed a totally new concept of electrofusion jointing method for large bore PE pipes, d1000 mm (40”) and above. The new method completely...

„No welding if media escapes”, “residual water problems” and “need for space” are phrases invariably used when repairs and integration to PE pipe systems is the topic of conversation. Quite rightly so, because clean fusion zone surfaces are an important prerequisite for a strong, homogenous PE fusion jointing. Below,...

Crosslinked polyethylene (PE-X) pipes, successfully used for decades in house installations and heating systems, have found a new and growing application in buried gas and water supply systems, in recent years. The reason for the renewed success of PE-X is due to its unsurpassed resistance to notches. The use of sand...
