PVC in the third Millennium - this sounds fantastic! How can an old fashioned - as some people believe - plastics material continue to grow and develop further in this new and even faster emerging new millennium? PVC is under more and more competition in the pipe industry from other polymers such as PE and PP but also from traditional materials such as cast and ductile iron or clay and concrete. This strong competition is the driver for innovations also in the PVC industry. Not only technical innovations but also cost competitiveness and efficiency as well as ecological acceptance are necessary today to guarantee tomorrows’ success and to make a material the specifier’s choice. PVC has become the polymer with a wider range of applications than any other plastics material, from transparent blood bags to maintenance free window frames. It´s performance delivers substantial benefits, thus making it the material of choice in many sectors of our modern society. This based on more than 60 years of positive experience as the industry has moved progressively from infancy to maturity.
