Cross-linked PE (PEX) pipes have been known for two decades. Applications like floor heating and domestic sanitary systems for cold and hot water have long become standard in many countries. Increasing proportions of the total use have been captured by PEX away from traditional materials i.e. steel or copper. Contributing to this are the unique properties of PEX (see appendix 1).
"Golan Plastics" is the Israeli producer of PEX pipes under the brand-name "PEXGOL". Realizing the potential benefit of the unique properties of PEX material, Golan has expanded its scope of product range and production capabilities of "PEXGOL" pipes, offering new and exciting applications.
PEX pipes in diameters of up to 450 mm (the largest PEX pipe in the world) are produced on site or transported on special drums in long and continuous sections. New fitting systems including end-flaring and electrohsion have been developed as a result of the market demand for cost effective solutions, and in close cooperation with customers (see appendix 2).
Some of these new applications as well as on-site production will be demonstrated with slides and movies. Included will be the following applications:
- Abrasive sluny piping: Dead Sea brine and gold mines (South Africa)
- Long length industrial and city sewer line in tough terrains (helicopter laying)
- One length riser mains in water well installation
- Re-lining old pipe lines (patented system)
PEX being the only plastic pipe totally immune to ESCR, to slow and rapid (SCG and RCP) crack propogation, along with the new production capabilities offered by Golan, open new horizons for the gas pipe industry and other new and intriguing applications!
