New calculation method for long term Hydrostatic Strength is explained and demonstrated by data on PVC, CPVC and PE. Basis is also given in ISO DTR 9080.2.
Pipes and fittings of thermoplastic materials are used in all types of applications in the water, gas, sewer and other industrial applications where a long life is needed.

Early applications are already reported from the year 1935, but the big growth was in the years of 1960-1970.

Now a steady stream of new applications are evolving, materials are improved, new systems are being invented and pipe and fitting joints are much improved.

Tremendous work has been done on national and international level with regard to standardization and quality requirements.

Each country now has their own set of standards, which are linked together through standards by the International Organisation for Standardization.
